ABOUT US

Community Lunch on Capitol Hill provides hot meals and other essential services to homeless and low-income people in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood in a welcoming environment. We are a small but growing 501(c)3 non-profit. We currently serve lunch five times each week from All Pilgrims Christian Church. We also provide survival gear, clothing, toiletries and other services to help guests improve their lives.

We have been serving full hot meals to food insecure people on Capitol Hill for nearly forty years. Annually, we serve almost 100,000 meals from our kitchen.

POSITION SUMMARY

The executive director (ED) reports to the board of directors and is responsible for the overall management and success of Community Lunch’s program. The ED assumes responsibility for the overall operational management of the program, organizational leadership, visioning, and long-range planning.

The ED has direct responsibility for overseeing and executing the following:

●      Operational management of all facets of Community Lunch’s services;

●      Financial management, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and fiscal oversight;

●      Fundraising, including fund sourcing, sponsorship attainment, donor relations and grant-writing and management;

●      Program development, operational execution and evaluation including compliance with federal, state, and local regulations;

●      Community relations, including outreach, marketing, communications, and advocacy;

●      Human resources management, including the development of sound personnel policies and practices; staff recruitment and management;

●      Effectively manages staff, providing training and direction to manage staff effectiveness and performance including de-escalation and food handling requirement

●      Represents the organization in partnerships with the King County local human services community, including meal partners, city of Seattle and others.

●      Volunteer engagement, development and growth

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

●      Must be comfortable working with homeless and low-income people in our community.

●      Proven work experience in supervision, with ability to interact collaboratively, respectfully, and enthusiastically with a diverse set of program staff, volunteers and coalition partners.

●      10 years of experience in a related field: Operations, food systems, public health, non-profit management, project management, business administration.

●      Self motivated, able to work independently, able to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines.

●      Strong sense of teamwork, with ability to interact collaboratively, respectfully, and enthusiastically with a diverse set of program staff and coalition partners

●      Must have valid Washington State driver’s license and be willing to drive the Community Lunch van for donation pickups

●      Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

●      An understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion learning and practices.

●      Proven work experience in a director role preferred, but not required

●      Preferred knowledge in budgeting, forecasting, and donor management

COMPENSATION

Based on experience, full time (1.0 FTE) compensation for this role is $84,199 - $95,199. Personal leave and benefits package including paid vacation, personal holidays, sick leave, and agency-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance. NB: Community Lunch serves meals on holidays, and the ED may have to take floating holidays in order to be present. Weekend work is minimal.
